We are currently seeking an Office Director & Climate Policy Expert to lead Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific office, managing a growing, multi-disciplinary team of about 6 people.

Your responsibilities:

• Leading the development and management of Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific
• Lead the content work on climate policy for the Australian office and the Asia Pacific region, coordinating closely with and supported by the Climate Policy Team leads
• Be responsible for developing the overall Australia-Pacific regional strategy, for its implementation, monitoring and reporting on progress to the Management Team and Executive Team
• Lead conceptualisation and acquisition of projects for Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific
• Ensure the quality of the Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific outputs match the high standards of the Organisation and appropriate review and sign off procedures are followed
• Work closely with the leaders of the climate policy team to ensure alignment of content, methodologies and overall work programme
• Manage and be responsible for the Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific staff, and facilitate a positive and safe work environment:
  • Convene and chair weekly meetings of the Australian office and CA team members in the Asia-Pacific (AUSPAC)
  • In coordination with the Organisation’s HR team, exercise administrative oversight for HR and organisational matters, with support of a project/office manager as part of the Australian office staff, and ensure alignment with the Organisation’s HR policies
  • Develop a strategy for HR, including identification of team composition that matches needs, recruitment and retention of staff personal development and training in collaboration with the HR department
• Develop, supported by and in close collaboration with the Development and Partnerships a pipeline of projects for Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific with the view to ensure stable and secure funding, increase regional presence and prospective new areas of development

CA Global:

• Represent the Australian office on the Management Team of CA and regularly attend its meetings, participate in and contribute to its work, and where requested attend the Executive Management Team and the Programme Strategies Team
• Ensure Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific is aligned with, and contributes to, the overall mission and strategy of the Organisation
• Ensure Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific contributes to the strategy of CA through its processes
• Report to the Head of Global Offices on the CA Executive team
• Strengthen collaboration and coordination with the Headquarter and other offices
• Work closely with the Offices Director and CEO in developing Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific as a regional Asia-Pacific Hub

External:

• Represent Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific in the region and conduct outreach activities (events, media) aiming at increasing recognition and visibility of CA
• Build up and maintain strategic relationships with NGOs, stakeholders, partners and donors, including with universities in the region
• Act as the legal representative of the Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific under delegations from the CEO and Directors of CA Australia Ltd
• Ensure Climate Analytics Australia-Pacific is compliant with CA’s policies and local laws and regulations

Your Profile

You will ideally have the following qualifications and skills:

• Post-Graduate degree in climate related studies, or equivalent experience and track record, in climate and energy policy analysis, particularly in the quantitative area
• At least 5-10 years of work experience in the field, with more recent experience at the senior level, with a proven quantitative climate policy analysis track record and modelling, with an ability to guide thought leadership skills and oversee quantitative work in the team
• Strong overview of the climate and energy issues involved with 1.5 degree pathway analysis, and an application of qualitative methods to policy analysis in this area
• Track record of inter-disciplinary work and a profound interest in understanding and addressing international, regional, national and sub-national challenges to climate change policy
• At least 3-5 years of proven management and team leadership skills and experience with a demonstrated aptitude for teamwork and ability to manage a diverse array of people
• Strong track record and experience in project acquisition, overall management and coordination of large-scale projects
• Excellent English writing and verbal skills

Terms: Currently we can offer a one-year fixed term contract with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding – we are interested in a long term cooperation.
