About us

The Climate Risk Group is a company committed to quantifying and communicating the costs of climate change. Our mission is to influence decision-makers – large and small – towards action that directs global capital away from climate change-related activities and towards a zero carbon, high resilience economy.

With 50 team members across Australia and Europe, the Climate Risk Group brings together XDI, with its finance and business focus, and Climate Valuation, which provides household-level insights into the costs of climate change. Together, our work leverages physical climate risk data, influence with global financial players, and grassroots momentum to create a compelling case for change.

The Role

We are a privately owned, revenue-funded organisation with no debt or equity investment. Our organisation has undergone extensive growth in the last two years and is transitioning from a consultancy model to SaaS / PaaS delivery method. We are currently implementing a new operational model capturing Agile and Lean practices and wish to drive the business toward scalable delivery to support profitable growth, healthy teams, and the delivery of our mission.

This evolution in the business has created a new operational and strategic opportunity for a Director of Finance to assist in the business model transition and ongoing financial planning and management. You will be instrumental in driving and enhancing our business's financial health through this transition, developing systems-enhanced financial analysis to support strategic growth and achieving our mission.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop a stable financial management framework for FY25 and FY26. You will work with the Strategic Forum and the Board to develop the two-year financial plan and ensure the best-practice reporting framework. Your strategic financial insights will be crucial in shaping our future growth and stability.

Through a structured transition from the existing CFO and Founder, your appointment will ensure stability for the business operations, help build financial literacy in the Strategy Forum, and bolster support for the Founders.

The role could be an excellent fit for an ex-large business CFO or senior contemporary management accountant looking to transition to part-time work. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in the tech / B2B / SaaS environment.
