About the Role

Closer Care has casual vacancies for Disability and Mental Health Support Workers with at least one year of industry and/or education experience in Greater Sydney.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing assistance with daily living and community access
  • Supporting participants with interest to attend group activities at our community centre in Gladesville
  • Encouraging participants involvement within the community
  • Assisting participants to achieve their plan goals e.g.) budget management, improve communications skills, expression of emotions
  • Supporting participants who without your prompting may not perform basic hygiene tasks such as hand washing, showering and brushing teeth, and daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning and doing laundry
  • Transporting participants to therapy or doctor appointments, taking them shopping and completing other chores
  • Administrative component of the role: employees are required to have transparent and timely communication and note writing that is shared with support coordinators, Closer Care leaders and fellow support workers

About you

  • Clear alignment to our organisation values
  • Has an interest to support adults living with a psychosocial disability to build their capacity and maintain their independence within their home and out in the community
  • Qualities: compassionate, empathetic, caring, passion for helping others, patient
  • Skills: detail-oriented, solution-focused, person-centred, strength-based, team player, hard-working, dedicated to enhancing the lives of those living with a range of disabilities
  • Have at least 1 year of experience in the community care industry or studying in relevant field
  • Genuine desire to provide the best quality care for people with disabilities
  • Demonstrate awareness of disability issues
  • Excellent communication and proven computer skills
  • Excellent ability in writing progress notes after every shift
  • Experience in complex support

What is Required

  • Current drivers licence and MUST own a reliable/registered and insured vehicle
  • Clear and current: Working with Children Check, NDIS Workers' Check and First Aid certificate
  • Qualification relevant to the role will be well regarded
  • Three to fours days availability is a MUST
