Clothier Anderson Immigration Lawyers is a medium sized immigration law firm located on the city fringe in Carlton. We provide high quality specialist immigration and refugee law advice and advocacy.

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time legal assistant to join our firm. This role will provide quality administrative and paralegal assistance. To be successful in this busy role, you will have excellent time-management and organisational skills, strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ideally, you will be familiar with lawyer’s trust accounts including an electronic billing and file management system (preferably Affinity) and have past experience in a legal support position within a legal environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in file management including daily filing
• Diary management including processing incoming emails and diarising time limits
• Lodging requests for copies of documents under relevant FOI legislation
• Obtaining instructions and liaising with clients with regard to the provision of documents
• Drafting forms and correspondence including formal letters and emails
• Lodging review applications with the Administrative Appeals Tribunal
• Scanning, compiling and uploading enclosures to submissions/applications
• Drafting court documents (including applications, affidavits, consent orders, court books and bundles of authorities)
• E-filing materials in the Federal Circuit, Federal Court and High Court of Australia and service of documents
• Preparing and lodging funding applications with Victoria Legal Aid
• Liaising with barristers and other external parties
• Arranging the translation of documents and booking interpreters
• Generating client invoices and drafting standard cover emails
• Entering disbursements and credit card payments into Affinity
• Reception relief
• Other administrative tasks, as required
