About You

As the Workplace Adjustments Officer, you will provide case management and support for employees with disability and/or who are neurodiverse. You will provide crucial support to employees through facilitating workplace adjustments they need to thrive at work, acting as an advocate and enabling teams and managers to build their disability confidence.

Under the guidance of the IDEA Lead, you will identify and recommend improvements to RMIT accessibility processes and contribute to RMIT's aim to build an inclusive community through attracting and retaining staff who are reflective of our wider community. You will be passionate about, and support the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity and access and will take an intersectional approach to your inclusive practice.

To be successful in this position, you will have as a minimum:

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative frameworks (e.g., Disability Discrimination Act 1992, Disability Act 2006), support mechanisms and service providers in relation to workplace adjustments, disability support and disability discrimination with a demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge in the provision of services to staff living with disability.
  • Experience providing case management and/or support services to people with disability, preferably in a workplace context.
  • Knowledge of challenges and supports available to individuals living with disabilities, such as JobAccess and NDIS referral pathways and support
  • An understanding of disability employment and the ability to provide support to people with disability, neurodivergence, long term medical/chronic conditions and/ or mental health conditions in a manner which is empathetic, sensitive and supports their agency.
  • Demonstrated experience in project and/or case management, ideally relating to disability and accessibility and the range and scope of reasonable workplace adjustments appropriate to a workplace setting.
