About the role

Are you a strategic communicator with a passion for health equity and social justice? We're looking for a Strategic Communications & Media Advisor to help us tell our story, engage our stakeholders, and position cohealth as a leading voice in health and social equity.

As the Strategic Communications & Media Advisor, you'll play a critical role in shaping how cohealth is seen and heard. You'll craft innovative communication strategies, lead media relations, and foster relationships with key stakeholders to drive advocacy and enhance our reputation. This is a unique opportunity to amplify the voices of our communities, ensuring their stories inspire action and create lasting impact.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Develop comprehensive media and public relation strategies to highlight cohealth's work, elevate the voices of people with lived experience, and further enhance cohealth's reputation
  • Respond to all reactive media enquiries and lead cohealth's proactive media approaches
  • Partner with the Communications Manager to develop, implement and evaluate cohealth's communications strategy
  • Develop and implement communication and engagement strategies for projects aligned with cohealth's strategic priorities
  • Foster and strengthen relationships with key communication and engagement stakeholders, including government, media, community partners and other health organisations

This is a dynamic, hands-on role suitable for a strategic communicator with a collaborative spirit and talent for storytelling that builds trust and inspires action.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • A tertiary qualification in media or communications and/or significant demonstrated experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading, or contributing to, the development and implementation of an organisation's communication and media strategies
  • Experience working closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide strategic advice on best practice media approaches
  • Understanding of the Australian media landscape, and experience in reactive and proactive media relations

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), a Working With Children Check (WWCC), complete a Pre-Employment Declaration Form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of immunisation.

Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
