The Community and City Services Division puts people, families and community at the forefront of our work. The Project Officer role manages complete a range of tasks and projects that support inclusion-related outcomes, including project design and planning, stakeholder management, and provides progress reports and updates to Council.

The Project Officer will also manage the grants community capacity building program to the community sector, provides support to administer the processes that deliver community grants and also contribute to the development and management of tools and systems to support community development projects.

All CoM employees will demonstrate an ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.

In addition, the position will require:

  • Strong project management and support skills, including the ability to plan, monitor and assess projects, risks and issues and the ability to manage multiple projects from conception to delivery, and operate with a close attention to detail.
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a field such as business administration, project management, human services, diversity and inclusion, social policy or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as visual presentation skills.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with residents, community groups, government departments and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage administrative, financial data and other resource systems.
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical, negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • High level of computer literacy in Microsoft Office range including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to use databases to manage work. Knowledge of Smartygrants system is desirable.
  • Understanding of processes involved in Community Grants and Sponsorship programs and systems (desirable).
