A wonderful opportunity to join a values-driven community service and play a pivotal role in the planning, design and implementation of a new Mental Health Centre in the Inner North of Brisbane. This role focuses on stakeholder engagement, community consultation, planning and development, service promotion and ongoing evaluation to ensure the Centre meets the diverse needs of the local community. This is a fixed term 12 month project located at both Bardon and Lutwyche, BRISBANE.
About the role
- Utilising community development expertise and knowledge to develop a co-design and consultation plan for the establishment of the centre, ensuring it is responsive to the needs of the local community. This will include supporting the design and delivery of the service based on ongoing consultation with key stakeholders, ensuring it is place-based and trauma informed.
- Focus on building strong, lasting relationships with stakeholders to foster collaboration and ensure the service is tailored to the unique needs of the community.
- Liaising with a wide variety of services and community groups to ensure that the service is culturally safe, inclusive and respectful of the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the Inner North of Brisbane.
- Work alongside Communify's Communications and Marketing Team to promote the new service to the local community, ensuring it is well-publicised, accessible and aligned with local needs.
- Utilising existing research skills to conduct regular assessments to identify community needs, gaps in existing services and opportunities for improvement.
- Evaluate the impact of the co-design process and the effectiveness of the service once implemented, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of the community.
- Work closely with the leadership and other team members to provide operational support throughout the co-design and implementation stages of the service.
- Support with administrative tasks directly related to the transition and establishment process.
- Administrative support for the development and delivery of group programs identified through the consultation process.
Role criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Health Promotion, Social Sciences, Health, Public Health, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience in community development with a strong understanding of community consultation, planning and partnership development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse community stakeholders and build collaborative partnerships.
- Proven ability to develop and implement program plans, ensuring alignment with best practice frameworks and funding requirements.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools for program management and reporting.
- demonstrated experience in data collection, research analysis and reporting to inform program evaluation and service improvement.
- strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and adapt to changing community needs.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute as part of a team to provide a safe, equitable and rewarding workplace.
- Knowledge of community mental health services and strategies for reducing barriers to care and support.
Additional requirements
- A current open QLD driver's licence.
- Working with Children card and Working with People with a Disability check (or the ability to obtain one) is mandatory.

About our Mental Health Services
Communify's Recovery and Discovery Centre is a Mental Health Hub that is designed to provide integrated, multi-disciplinary supports for people who live with sever and complex mental health concerns that are having a significant impact on daily life and wellbeing. Funded through the Brisbane North PHN and delivering support across three key funding streams: individual and group Psychosocial Support (including peer support), Clinical Care Navigation, and Individual and Group Psychosocial Therapies. The support that is provided is strengths-based, client-driven and trauma-informed. In July 2025, the Recovery and discovery Centre will expand and transition to the Inner North Medicare Mental Health centre and the Community Development and Engagement Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the planning, design and implementation of this Centre.
