<p>Community Housing Industry Association NSW (CHIA NSW) is the industry peak body for registered community housing providers in NSW.</p>
<p>Our purpose is to support the development of a not-for-profit rental housing industry which makes a difference to the lives of lower income and disadvantaged households in NSW.</p>
<p>CHIA NSW provides accredited training and assessment and professional development services through the Learning and Development Team and the Registered Training Organisation (No. 90400), Centre for Training in Social Housing.</p>
<p>Together with the NSW Government, CHIA NSW is providing new training opportunities connected to jobs in the Community Housing Industry. This exciting project provides an opportunity for students (cadets) to undertake paid employment and training in tenancy management and general community housing services. All participants who obtain a place in the Cadetship Project will enter a 12 month paid employment contract with a community housing provider and enrol to study the CHC42221 Certificate IV in Housing delivered by CHIA NSW.</p>

<h3><strong>Position Overview</strong></h3>
<p>The Community Services Trainer / Work Placement Coordinator will be responsible for developing a positive relationship with cadets and their employer in the assessment of the cadet&rsquo;s performance and progress. The Work Placement Coordinator will deliver training in the workplace or the classroom in areas where they have industry experience.</p>
<p></p>
<h3><strong>Conditions of Employment:</strong></h3>
<p>This position is part time position for up to 29.4 hours per week. Included in the salary package is four weeks annual leave (pro rata the hours worked as per contract), superannuation, employee assistance program and salary packaging.</p>
<h3></h3>
<h3><strong>Core requirements include:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Working with children check is required before commencement</li>
<li>Drivers Licence NSW</li>
<li>Available to travel within NSW for periods of up to 1 week</li>
<li>Ability to work from Redfern when not travelling</li>
<li>Understanding of and ability to implement culturally safe practices</li>
</ul>

<h3><strong>Educational Qualifications Required:</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>TAE40116 or equivalent</li>
<li>Degree or Diploma in area of community services and/or case management</li>
</ul>
<h3></h3>
<h3><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Work Placement Coordination</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Abide by guidelines and processes for work placement visits and assessments</li>
<li>Coordinate visits to workplaces for each student up to three times in a 12-month period</li>
<li>Liaise with trainers to support students learning needs</li>
<li>Assist cadets who need additional support in their assessments and/or their workplace</li>
<li>Undertake consultation &amp; negotiation with relevant workplace personnel supporting the cadet</li>
<li>Ensure that students are satisfactorily progressing in their course by continuing to support and nurture students at any stage of their education journey to achieve a retention rate of 75%</li>
<li>Maintain the student database of all students managed by you to monitor progress and contribute to the reporting requirements for the Team</li>
<li>Attend to all administrative duties including weekly team meetings</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Communication Skills</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>A key component of the role is advanced communication skills and an ability to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders</li>
<li>Establish respectful professional relationships that have clear boundaries with students, staff and partner organisations</li>
<li>Maintain and grow networks within the community housing industry to maximise the workplace experience for participants and their employers in the Cadetship Project</li>
<li>Demonstrate problem solving and negotiation skills as required</li>
<li>Demonstrate high level communication skills in listening, consulting others and communicating proactively to address conflict</li>
<li>Clearly convey information (collect, classify, and disseminate), providing others with clear priorities and direction</li>
<li>Deliver presentations and undertake public speaking with skill and confidence</li>
<li>Engage with a diverse range of people, and facilitate groups with skill and confidence</li>
<li>Work with other members of the Learning and Development Team to ensure the team has an effective and productive team environment</li>
<li>Work with CHIA NSW staff to enhance delivery and maintain currency in community housing industry</li>
<li>Participate in CHIA NSW wide activities including Communities of Practice, Exchanges, Annual Meeting and Board meetings as required</li>
<li>Prepare reports for the project and for management, government, and board meetings</li>
</ul>
<p><strong> Training and Assessment</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide training and professional development in both instructor-led training and the digital medium in line with your industry currency.</li>
<li>Plan, conduct and review assessments against qualifications within the scope of our registration as an RTO.</li>
<li>Provide support to individual students through the training process.</li>
<li>Record outcome of assessments in the Learner Management System</li>
<li>Participate in validations as required</li>
<li>Assist with compliance and audit activities as required</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Compliance</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Undertake all above duties in keeping with the requirements of the unit of competencies and ASQA regulations</li>
<li>Manage and maintain your industry and VET currency in line with CHIA NSW policies and procedures</li>
<li>Maintain and record all evidence from students in the Learner Management System</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Other Duties</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Participate in general activities of the organisation and the Learning and Development Team</li>
<li>Work with colleagues to build a positive and collaborative workplace culture</li>
<li>Work with colleagues to develop effective workplace communication practices</li>
<li>Carry out duties as requested by the Head of Learning and Development</li>
</ul>
