Established in October 1970, Community SOS (Community Support and Outreach Services Central Coast) operates from the Narara Community Centre and Yaringaa Building, Woy Woy. We are a multi-service organisation whose mission is to enhance the quality of people's lives by providing services which enable them to live with dignity and respect.

The opportunity is a Client Support provider to work in our Gosford City NILS microfinance program in Central Coast NSW, based at Narara.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is part time (35 hours per fortnight with the possibility of increase ). As a not-for-profit organisation, employment is subject to ongoing funding year to year.

The Gosford City NILS Client Support Provider delivers exceptional services by providing low-income clients access to small, no interest loans for essential household items and services. Client support provides face-to face and phone assistance to clients applying for a NILS loan. This includes assisting the applicant to fulfil the requirements of the loan application, interviewing the applicant and submitting the completed loan application to loan management.

The NILS Client Support Provider (CSP) may also support Gosford City NILS in the training of other CSP workers and/or volunteers for the purpose of extending the reach of NILS. Travelling to other locations to deliver NILS may be required in this role.

The role involves guiding applicants through the entire process of the loan application. This includes interviewing the applicant, providing emotional support, liaising with their support person and contacting other providers or suppliers as necessary. A good understanding of the complexities, sensitivity and confidentiality of the credit needs of low income earners is essential.

Remuneration is based on the SCHADS Award Level 3, in accordance to experience.

ABOUT YOU

Ideally, the successful applicant will have the following attributes:

  • Qualifications in Community, Social Services, or the equivalent.
  • Budgeting skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, outlook, digital filing and databases
  • Proficient communicator and listener
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Community experience having worked in a not-for-profit setting, working with vulnerable clients and with people from diverse backgrounds
  • experience in analysing and interpreting financial data such as budgets, bank and income statements
  • Proficient time management skills & ability to to prioritise and get things done.
  • Must have a current Working with Children and National Police Check
  • Class C drivers licence and a reliable car
