About the position

The Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulations including funding regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also be responsible for overseeing processing of Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant will support the overall finance function with the day-to-day accounting, finance and compliance requirements of the organisation.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Fully qualified CA/CPA or in progress
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial accounting or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and Australian Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word
  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly to stakeholders

Proficiency in Xero accounting software or related (e.g. Quickbooks, SAP, Oracle), and payroll processing experience would be an added requirement. Additionally, knowledge and experience working with Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services (SCHCADS) Industry Award and/or Education (Post Secondary) Award 2020 would be advantageous.
