About the role
Alukura Maternal Support Worker Team Leader (AMSW Team Leader) is responsible for leadership and day-to-day coordination of the Maternal Support Worker (AMSW) team.
The AMSW Team Leader provides mentorship and assists the AMSW team with planning client liaison and follow up, and identification of the individual cultural and social support needs of Alukura Midwifery Group Practice (AMGP) clients that are ‘case loaded’ by a ‘buddied midwife’.
We are looking for the ideal candidate who will be a person who:
- Is a female of Aboriginal descent, identifies and is accepted as an Aboriginal person by the local Aboriginal community.
- has a Certificate III or IV in Community Services or Mental Health or willingness to attain qualification.
- has demonstrated an ability to assess, plan, refer, coordinate and deliver social support to a caseload of clients.
- Has a knowledge of social impacts on individual health and wellbeing, and demonstrated experience in applying cultural safety and trauma informed care in a client related role.
- Has an ability to lead a small team, exemplify work practices and mentor staff to achieve workplace goals and Key Performance Indicators.
- Possesses effective communication skills with individuals and groups from a diverse range of professional and cultural backgrounds, in oral and written formats.
- Has a proficiency in the use of information technology and desktop applications (E.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Zoom), database and client health record programs (E.g., Communicare).
- Has a current unrestricted NT Drivers Licence or the ability to obtain
- Has experience working with in a women centred service and supporting clients with complex needs including domestic violence, substance abuse, trauma and loss.
