Connect Victoria Park Inc’s Mission is to collaborate with older people to increase wellbeing and support ageing in community. We are a not for profit provider of community housing and operator of Connect Village Hub – a community of more than 300 people that works together to facilitate healthy ageing, social connection and lifelong learning for people aged 55+.

Key Responsibilities:

The Member Engagement Officer will be the first point of contact for many of the people engaging with Connect Victoria Park Inc and the Village Hub and will be central to ensuring they experience a positive and dynamic environment where their individual skills, abilities and needs are promoted and supported.

The Member Engagement Officer will be responsible for ensuring Village Hub Members and other people visiting the premises feel welcomed and are assisted appropriately. A friendly, ‘can do’ attitude and good communication skills will be critical when engaging with our Village Hub members including our community housing tenants, and other visitors, contractors and members of the public.

The Member Engagement Officer will work under the direction of the Village Hub Coordinator. As one of two staff members working primarily in Village Hub operations this role will be required to assist the Coordinator with events and activities, promotion, and planning of the Village Hub programme. The role also includes answering the phone, and engaging with members via email and other online media.

As an important part of a small team the Member Engagement Officer will also work collaboratively with other staff members and volunteers. Flexibility and team work are highly valued and are a requirement for this role.

Computer skills including proficiency in Excel and Word are also essential. Proficiency with social media, website development, and simple newsletter/brochure design are also required.

Specific Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Engage with members and visitors in-person and ensure they are assisted appropriately;
  • Respond to telephone and email enquiries;
  • Assist in planning the Village Hub program of classes, courses and events;
  • Facilitate Zoom participation of members in classes;
  • Engage with Group Leaders on day to day matters relating to their activities;
  • Engage with Instructors on day to day matters relating to classes;
  • Assist with design and compilation of Connect Victoria Park Inc newsletters and promotional materials;
  • Assist to maintain Connect Victoria Park Inc website and social media presence;
  • Assist with set up and pack away for activities and events;
  • Take payments and reconcile till.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  1. An enthusiastic, ‘can do’ attitude;
  2. A positive and contemporary attitude towards ageing and older people;
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  4. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills;
  5. Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, Word and general office software;
  6. A National Police Clearance;
  7. Ability to assist with basic design and presentation of promotional materials;
  8. Ability to assist with maintenance of the organisations’ social media presence and website content.

Desirable

  1. Experience working or volunteering in a community organisation;
  2. Community Development (or similar) qualifications.
