About us

The Children's Court of Victoria (ChCV) has jurisdiction under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 to hear cases involving children and young people up to the age of 18 years, and in some cases up to 19 years. It has a Family Division and a Criminal Division and it sits at locations throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

The Conference Intake Officer (IO) will be supported by the Senior Intake Officer to assist convenors and the Manager, Alternative Dispute Resolution to provide alternative dispute resolution for ChCV.

As part of the state-wide team, the IO will contribute to the early resolution of matters in the Family Division of the Children's Court through non adversarial alternative dispute resolution.

About the role

The IO will:

  • Provide pre-conference information and support to families.
  • Engage directly with external stakeholders.
  • Draft comprehensive briefs for convenors across the state and work directly with the regional Bendigo Convenor.
  • Provide assessment and recommendations on format, participation and risk relevant to Conciliation.

About you

  • Experience or interest in working directly with vulnerable Victorians including: First Nations, victim survivors of family violence, new immigrants and/or refugees, people with a disability, mental illness or substance addiction.
  • Certificate IV in Government (Court Services) or Diploma of Social Work or equivalent is desirable.
