Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria’s courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria’s Supreme, County, Magistrates’, Children’s, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group’.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

This role is part of the Specialist Courts and Court Support Services programs within the Magistrates’ Court. Specialist Courts provides a range of initiatives to assist accused persons and others involved in the court system, who are experiencing issues of social or cultural disadvantage, including substance abuse, homelessness, disability, mental illness, family violence or cognitive impairment.

These initiatives include the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP), the Assessment and Referral Court (ARC), CISP Remand and Outreach Pilot (CROP), the Criminal Justice Diversion Program, the Drug Court of Victoria and Family Violence Programs and Initiatives. In addressing pre-existing issues that contribute to offending and other anti-social behaviours, these initiatives aim to reduce re-offending.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity as a CISP Case Manager based across Heidelberg and Broadmeadows, has arisen within the Magistrates Court of Victoria. Case Managers are integral members of the Court Support Services (CSS) team delivering high quality case management to clients with complex needs who are involved with the Court system. Working within the Court environment, you will provide our clients with support to address the issues that are contributing to their offending behaviours. This role provides case management support to people on bail with a range of complex needs who are participating in the CISP program.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification (minimum Diploma level highly desirable) related to case management practice with forensic clients; such as social work, psychology, welfare, drug and alcohol or another related field and/or relevant experience.
  • Experience providing a case management support taking a holistic, strengths-based and collaborative approach.
  • Experience communicating hope and optimism for change and applying a person-centred and evidence-based approach to support and enhance the client's motivation.
  • Knowledge of how to engage with clients through assessment and treatment planning to develop a person centred individual support plan
  • Can ensure clear communication, documentation, information security and confidentiality.
  • Able to work with diversity in a way that displays respect and cultural sensitivity and ensuring that services are delivered in a way that is family/person-centred, and responsive to and inclusive of the diverse needs and backgrounds of all clients.
  • Experience preparing reports on client progress and can effectively speak to your work in a court setting.
