About the job

At the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, we're passionate about supporting young people with Cerebral Palsy and other complex physical disabilities to live lives that are filled with purpose and opportunity.

We want to incubate a new youth initiative, designed for and by young people with lived experience of Cerebral Palsy and other physical disabilities.

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary young individual to join us as the Founder of a groundbreaking initiative focused on empowering youth with Cerebral Palsy. As the Founder, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the direction of the organisation, build a dedicated team, and make a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals.

You'll be provided with all the key resources to help you design, test and implement this initiative, including:

  • A salary (full time or part time, per your preference)
  • Coaching and advisory support from experienced startup advisors and operators and other CPA staff
  • A budget to hire other young people to be part of the founding team
  • Brand, marketing and communications support from CPA
  • Technical support from CPA

Your activities

  • Visionary Leadership: Develop and articulate a compelling vision and mission for the initiative, setting clear goals and objectives for its impact
  • Design thinking: Work with the Barry Street Consulting team to develop a design thinking process to create the programs/projects for the initiative and the brand concepts for the initiative
  • Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of passionate individuals who can help you launch and build the initiative
  • Program Development: Oversee the design and implementation of programs and projects, taking on feedback and iterating to ensure it is impactful, sustainable and scalable
  • Partnership Development: Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, nonprofits, corporations, and community organisations
  • Resource Mobilisation: Work with CPA on revenue and fundraising models for the initiative

About you

We're looking for someone who is aged between 20 and 35 and has lived experience of Cerebral Palsy.

You may not have extensive work or startup experience, but you've got the characteristics and mindsets required to design, build and test something new.

  • Tenacity and adaptability. You know that starting something new takes grit and the ability to test, learn and iterate. You're willing and able to be flexible.
  • Critical thinking. You know how to look at the picture from all angles. You're willing to make tradeoffs in pursuit of sustainability and scale.
  • Self direction. You're able to work in a self directed capacity.
