The Public Service Association (PSA) is the principal trade union representing thousands of South Australian Public Sector workers and is dedicated to pursuing the interests of its members through strong, effective leadership and advocacy.

About the role:

An exciting career opportunity exists to join the PSA’s dynamic Industrial Team as an Industrial Officer. The role requires industrial knowledge and nous, an ability to take the initiative, navigate complex matters, and a strong desire to achieve positive outcomes for members. As a member of the PSA's Industrial Team, your role will involve:

  • Advocacy, representation and negotiation of cases before industrial and other tribunals
  • Providing individual support for members through caseload management
  • Providing high level industrial advice to support the work of the organising team

Recent graduates and experienced Industrial Officers are encouraged to apply.

This is a full-time ongoing position based in the Adelaide CBD, however the PSA is willing to consider part-time options.

Commencement salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

  • Ability to interpret and navigate complex information and formulate a strategy to achieve the best possible outcome for our member.

Technical Knowledge or Experience :

  • A knowledge and understanding of the SA industrial relations legislation and industrial instruments relevant to the SA Public Sector, or a demonstrated capacity to acquire that knowledge quickly
  • Experience in negotiating workplace grievances / issues and industrial disputes, or capacity to develop the necessary skills
  • Awareness of SA public sector structures, policies and environment
  • Current SA driver's licence and willingness to drive PSA fleet vehicles is desirable

Transferable skills are welcome

Experience in industrial relations or law is helpful, but not essential. We encourage applicants with skills and experience in advocacy, community engagement or human resources to apply.
