Job Description

Join Our Team as a Case Worker – Make a Difference in the Lives of Children and Young People!

Are you passionate about improving the lives of children and young people in Out of Home Care? Do you have a strong commitment to family finding, permanency, and supporting vulnerable children? We are looking for a dedicated Case Worker to join our team and ensure the safety, well-being, and empowerment of children and young people in care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage cases focusing on health, well-being, education, and cultural needs, ensuring all aspects of care are met.
  • Advocate for children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making.
  • Collaborate with families, carers, service providers, and other stakeholders to create and implement effective case and permanency plans.
  • Develop and implement safety plans, risk assessments, and restoration or family action plans.
  • Monitor placements and provide therapeutic support for children and young people.
  • Participate in the court process, prepare affidavits, and provide evidence when required.
  • Facilitate family time contact in accordance with court orders and monitor its effectiveness.
  • Support young people in the transition to independence with after-care planning, including financial assistance and independent living skills.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Relevant degree in Social Sciences or related field OR at least 2 years’ proven experience in OOHC Case Work/Management with a relevant diploma-level qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of trauma-informed practice and child protection legislation.
  • Experience working with CALD and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed practice and working with challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and independent working skills.
  • NSW Working with Children Check, National Police History, and a valid driver’s license.
  • Covid-19 vaccinations.
