Creeds Farm works with communities in Melbourne’s high-growth suburbs of Epping North and Wollert in the City of Whittlesea. We provide opportunities for people to build community connections, for life-long learning, skills development, information sharing, social and recreational activities and community development.

We are looking for a person with finance or accounting skills to join our Board of Governance as Treasurer. This is a volunteer role.

The Treasurer shares responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting, risk management and compliance management of Creeds Farm. The Treasurer has Board oversight of financial matters. An important part of the Treasurer’s role is to assist other Board members to understand financial information that is being presented and the context and the implications of this information. The Treasurer liaises with management and the finance officer as required.

ABOUT THE ROLES

Creeds Farm Living & Learning Centre is seeking passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Board of Governance — including a dedicated Treasurer to lead our Finance and Risk oversight.

We work with the communities of Epping North and Wollert to create opportunities for connection, learning, growth, and wellbeing. As a not-for-profit neighbourhood house, we empower our diverse community through social, recreational, and educational programs

General Board Members

We are looking for individuals with skills or experience in areas such as:

  • Community development
  • Governance
  • Human resources
  • IT and digital systems
  • Legal or compliance
  • Marketing and communications

Treasurer (Board Member)

We are also seeking a Treasurer with financial expertise to lead our Finance and Risk Sub-Committee and help the Board understand and oversee financial matters. The Treasurer will:

  • Review monthly financial reports with the Centre Manager and Finance Officer
  • Guide strategic financial planning and compliance
  • Lead financial risk management discussions
  • Chair the Finance and Risk sub-committee (meets every two months)

what we are looking for

Whether you are experienced in governance or looking to contribute meaningfully to your local community, we welcome applicants who bring:

  • A passion for collaboration and community
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgement
  • Experience in finance, governance, or technical areas (especially for Treasurer)
  • A willingness to actively engage in meetings and leadership

time commitment

  • Board Meetings: Every six weeks on a Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (no meetings in December or January)
  • Format: Meetings are hybrid — every third meeting is held in-person at Creeds Farm (2 Snugburgh Way, Epping); others are online
  • Preparation: Approx. 1–2 hours reading and prep before each meeting
  • Treasurer Only: Finance and Risk sub-committee meetings every two months (2 hours)

We’re located in Epping North. We are a paperless Board in keeping with Creeds Farm’s commitment to sustainability. We use Microsoft SharePoint for Board and governance documents.
