Community Shapers is a progressive call centre based in Canberra helping to shape a fairer, more sustainable world. We believe in the power of values-led, well-informed, and inspired over-the-phone conversation to effect social change. It is through this service that we support the progressive movement in Australia by strengthening and growing their membership bases as well as increasing awareness of and support for their campaigns through a combination of advocacy and fundraising over-the-phone outreach.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of a Change Agent you will work closely with other Change Agents and the Campaign Facilitators to support progressive campaigns. Change Agents need to be professional, friendly, and above all have a passion for social justice, equality, and caring for the environment.

CHANGE AGENTS ARE REQUIRED TO:

• Make phone calls to supporters of progressive organisations
• Have meaningful conversations and connect with people on shared values
• Have an interest in learning about and advocating for different ways of framing and solving problems
• Be professional, passionate, and energetic
• Look for areas to develop own skills and respond positively to feedback

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• An interest/engagement in Australian politics
• Shares progressive values and believes in a more equitable, sustainable, and caring Australia
• Good conversationalist, and an ability to actively listen
• A demonstrated willingness to learn about different ways of framing and solving problems and advocate for them
• Taking responsibility for areas to develop own skills and respond positively to feedback
• A desire to contribute, in a working capacity, to something you believe in

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

• Experience in on-campus university student politics and activism
• Experience working or volunteering with Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), community groups, research groups, activist groups, unions, progressive religious groups, or similar

We are looking for both casual and permanent part-time change agents.

As a casual employee, there is a current pay rate of $28.08/hour (including 25% casual loading). This is subject to increase as of 1st July. A minimum of 2 shifts per week is required (you can nominate the two days that suit you), and shifts take place Monday to Friday 2.30pm - 7.30pm.

As a permanent part-time employee, you will work between 18 - 22.5 hours per week (negotiable) at a pay rate of $22.46/hour (subject to change as of 1st July). Shifts take place Monday to Friday 2.30pm - 7.30pm however we are open to being flexible around shift starting times for part-time change agents.

We are located in a vibrant office space in the Canberra city centre, however, due to COVID-19 we are now also set up to work remotely. If you will be working with us remotely, you will need fast and reliable internet and a quiet and secure place to call from. Please do list your preference for working remotely or from our office.
