The Domestic and Family Violence Practitioner role will support the Team leader with the implementation of the Domestic Family Violence Safe and Together practice pilot program and promote safety and stability through comprehensive assessment, case planning and support.

The Domestic and Family Violence Practitioner will manage a caseload of families using the Safe and Together Model across various modalities, including intake and assessment, case management, brief and short-term support including providing information and referral to appropriate services.

The Domestic and Family Violence Practitioner will provide case management alongside key agencies such as Education and Health to foster strong relationships and ensure a holistic and collaborative approach to working with families.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Welfare, Social Science or related discipline are essential.
  • For Youth Justice positions, relevant qualification in Criminology or Law may be considered as compliant.
  • CYPP3 must have at least two (2) years of practical experience working with children, young people and/or their families in a social work/case management role.
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP): Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.   • Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
  • Driver’s license (C class) is essential.
  • Experience and/or a desire to work in a community services environment is essential.
  • The successful candidate will work in accordance with and uphold the ACT Public Service Values and Signature Behaviours, ACT Government’s Respect, Equity and Diversity Framework and the Directorate’s Work Health and Safety System.

Notes:

This is a temporary position available immediately with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A merit pool may be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who do not have these qualifications but who have appropriate and relevant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage and experience are eligible to apply.
