Are you ready to lead a dynamic team and make a meaningful impact? We are seeking a Senior Psychologist/Senior Specialist Psychologist to join us at Mannus Correctional Centre.

Your role

As a Senior Psychologist, you will provide direct psychological services and programs to offenders within a custodial setting. Your role involves offering high-level expertise in psychological assessment, intervention, and case management, particularly in complex cases. Mannus is a minimum security centre with a focus on works release and reintegration.

What you’ll do

• Develop and refine policies and procedures related to psychology services for offenders across custodial and community settings.
• Provide regular individual and group supervision to Psychologists, ensuring high standards of service delivery and professional growth.
• Deliver direct psychological interventions for complex cases, leveraging your expertise to address challenging needs.
• Support professional training and development initiatives for Psychologists within your cluster.
• Ensure thorough and compliant documentation on the Offender Integrated Management System (OIMS) and in case files for all offenders receiving psychological services.
• Coordinate and negotiate psychological service provision with stakeholders while maintaining clear role boundaries within your cluster or area.

Additional Responsibilities for Senior Specialist Psychologist

• Oversee the management of more complex offenders to comprehensively address risks and needs.
• Provide advanced clinical leadership and supervise staff, promoting best practices and high service standards.
• Lead research and evaluation projects aimed at improving psychology services and programs within the Department.

What we’re looking for

• Proven expertise in correctional psychology, particularly in assessing and treating mental health issues, cognitive impairments, and behaviour management.
• Strong understanding of contemporary correctional principles relevant to psychological assessments and interventions.
• Expertise in criminogenic risk assessments, especially regarding sex and violent offending.
• In-depth knowledge of ethical and legal obligations in psychology practice.
• Demonstrated ability in supervising and mentoring Psychologists.

Essential requirements

• Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology with full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
• Eligible to be an authorised supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia and willingness to supervise provisional psychologists and students.
• Demonstrated experience in assessment and treatment including mental health, cognitive impairment and people who sexually offend
• Current driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout NSW.

Senior Specialist Psychologist Requirements

• In addition to the above, applicants must hold a master’s degree or higher in a relevant specialist area such as clinical psychology, forensic psychology, counselling psychology, or neuropsychology and demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria in the Crown Psychologist Award.
