Cumberland Women’s Health Centre (CWHC) is a not-for-profit community organisation that works with women who experience family and domestic violence, trauma, and disadvantage in the Parramatta/Cumberland LGAs. The services we provide include case coordination support, advocacy, referral, counselling, case-management and health-centred groups and programs. Our services help women to regain control in their lives and thrive through the development of self-confidence; reducing social isolation and building social networks; reducing health inequities; and achieving economic independence.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Health Promotion / Group Worker assists the Manager in service delivery, representing CWHC in local networks and initiatives, and with the facilitation and administration of the group work program. The Health Promotion / Group Worker provides high-level guidance regarding how to ensure CWHC is relevant, accessible, and responsive to women and their children from multicultural backgrounds.
The position is responsible for:
- Developing and facilitating community education workshops in response to local priorities.
- Lead the planning of local campaigns and events, with the goal to promote the mission and purpose of CWHC in the local area.
- Collaboratively develop and support community events, work with stakeholders, partners and vendors relating to the events program.
- Build and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
- Support the successful implementation of CWHC’s group work program, including supporting group facilitators, resourcing, maintaining project documentation, and monitoring project plans to ensure project outcomes are achieved.
- Preparation of data and project reports and evaluations for internal review and external reporting purposes.
- Provide effective, efficient, and timely services in a manner consistent with organisational philosophy, policies and procedures, service agreements, and relevant legislation.
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion / social work or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs.
- Ability to effectively plan, manage and prioritise own work with minimum supervision.
- Experience working in a community organisation (group work and community development work).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain working relationships across all levels of an organisation, with key stakeholders and with members of the community.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to compose engaging content for online social media platforms.
- Demonstrated commitment to feminist practice and social justice.
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of women’s health issues, including domestic and family violence issues.

DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA
- Experience developing and facilitating community education workshops in response to local priorities.
- Experience in community engagement, including sensitivity to working with women from diverse cultural and class backgrounds and ages.
- Excellent audio-visual skills.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Ability to speak more than one language.
