Supporting more than 5,000 Western Australian women and children last year, we provide crisis accommodation facilities and support, women’s and children’s counselling services and outreach programs.

In addition to the provision of direct response and recovery services, we also provide advocacy, referral information and support to women and their children seeking relief from the impact of domestic violence.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a committed Children’s Counsellor to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis. As part of our counselling services team, you will play a key role in providing specialised counselling and support to children and adolescents affected by family and domestic violence.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one counselling services and group programs tailored to children and adolescents using a child-centred and trauma-informed approach
  • Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment and develop child-centred safety and support plans in collaboration with families and other support networks.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to ensure holistic client support.
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate programs and agencies, providing assistance and advocating on behalf of clients where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, assessments and support plans, ensuring confidentiality and professional standards.

About you

We are looking for a passionate and committed professional who is driven to making a positive impact on children and adolescents affected by family and domestic violence. You will be someone who thrives in collaborative environment and brings both compassion and expertise to your practice.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration with AHPRA or AASW, ACA (min level 2) or PACFA
  • Demonstrated experience providing counselling to children and adolescents, experience with family and domestic violence is preferred
  • A strong understanding of trauma-informed care and evidence-based interventions
  • Effective communication skills to engage a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make well-informed decisions
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Teams) and the ability to adapt to new software and platforms

Additional requirements:

  • National Police Clearance – no older than 3 months
  • Working with Children Check
  • WA Driver’s License
  • First and CPR certificate
