In this impactful role, you’ll work alongside disability advocacy organisations to build their capacity for evidence-based advocacy. You’ll support data collection and interpretation, facilitate the sharing of systemic issues, and help shape sector-wide improvements.

You’ll be part of a small, passionate team working remotely but connected nationally, with the opportunity to influence government policy and support positive outcomes for people with disability.

About the role

The National Centre for Disability Advocacy (NCDA), a program delivered by DANA, works with independent disability advocacy organisations to improve the quality of and access to disability advocacy nationally. The NCDA supports the growth and sustainability of the disability advocacy sector by providing education, resources and identifying opportunities and service gaps. The NCDA plays an important role in supporting the development of the sector and contributes to its long-term success. Its core functions include:

  • Capacity building
  • Identifying unmet need and unmet demand
  • Identifying and elevating systemic advocacy issues.

As the Data Education and Engagement Officer you will work within our NCDA team to;

  • Support individual disability advocacy organisations to better utilise data to track and report their outcomes and impact
  • Continue the establishment of systems to track unmet need and unmet demand across the advocacy sector
  • Use data to track systemic advocacy issues
  • Facilitate a data advisory group
  • Run training and education programs to assist advocacy organisations to utilise data systems
  • Develop guides and resources to support training and education
  • Work with our partners to provide enhanced data across the sector that better demonstrates the impact of advocacy nationally.

What you bring

  • Experience using data to inform social impact
  • Experience working with data systems, ability to influence the ongoing design and improvements to data systems.
  • Ability to engage and educate stakeholders through the design and deliver education material to improve data use and reporting
  • Be able to develop resources and guides that support the sector to use data to tell stories about the work they do
  • Strong project management and collaboration skills
  • Facilitate groups to drive change in how data is tracked and used and reported
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including across government and the advocacy community
  • Passion for equity, human rights, and social justice.
  • Some experience in developing data driven reports to support grant and partnership reporting requirements.
