About the Role

Do you have a passion for working with young people? Are you experienced in developing and facilitating social and recreational programs and events in the community?

This is an exciting new opportunity to join the Youth and Family Services team as a Youth Development Officer.

In this position you will bring your creative skills and interests including sports, performing arts and visual arts to proactively engage with young people and key community stakeholders to identify, develop and deliver programs and events that encourage young people’s active participation in and for the community.

About You

You will be tertiarily qualified in youth work, events, community development or its equivalent and have demonstrated experience and understanding of working with young people and community stakeholders.

Key skills include:

  • Sound understanding of youth issues, including disengaged and vulnerable young people and multicultural communities.
  • Sound understanding of youth participation and community development principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation, project and program development and implementation: and event development and delivery.

You may be required to undertake practical testing, work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacity assessment (physical) or aptitude testing.

The successful candidate will be asked to provide a current Victorian Driver's license, produce a clear Working with Children Check and will be asked to consent to a national police check (and where relevant an ‘international criminal history check’), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
