We are seeking an experienced driver to join our Community Transport Team to deliver high quality services to eligible residents across the Darebin Municipality. In this role you will provide passenger bus transportation that supports clients to maintain their independence and reduce social isolation through increased access to various community facilities, social and recreational activities.

about the role

In this role you will provide appropriate transport services using a Council vehicle that enable clients to remain active, independent and engaged within the Darebin community.

You will also:

  • Work collaboratively as part of a Community Transport Team to optimise effective operations and outcomes
  • Adopt a solution focused approach when working with clients that promotes independence whilst maintaining client safety
  • Assist clients to board and disembark the vehicle as required
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of clients through safe, responsible and courteous driving
  • Maintain, clean and check vehicles and equipment according to daily procedures
  • Participate in and contribute to team meetings, training, and developmental activities as required, to improve skills and knowledge relevant to service
  • Monitor client wellbeing and report any concerns or issues to Team Leader within the required timeframes

skills and experience

  • Experience in passenger transportation with 14 seater (or larger) bus
  • Current Light Rigid Licence and Drivers Certificate
  • Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Knowledge of City of Darebin local roads and landmarks
  • Experience working with older people and people with disabilities
  • Good understanding and empathy with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent (desirable)
