Who are we?

Deaf Children Australia is a national charity supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and their families. We have been in existence for over 160 years and are passionate about our impact!

About the role

The Head of Fundraising leads a small and dedicated team to provide the necessary leadership, strategy, and fundraising skills which will enable the organisation to achieve its fundraising targets, including the implementation of all fundraising programs, corporate partnerships, bequests, appeals and individual giving, and fundraising event management.

The role holds the critical responsibilities of ensuring funds are raised in a sustainable manner to ensure the continuation of DCA's unfunded programs and services to support service growth and broaden impact for our stakeholders. This full time role reports directly to the CEO.

Competencies and knowledge required

We are looking for a candidate with the following competencies and knowledge:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a fundraising and/or sales focused customer service role, with proven ability to provide a high level of customer service (essential)
  • Proven ability to develop fundraising strategies and execute successful fundraising programs (essential)
  • Demonstrated success in securing significant income via major gifts, bequests, sponsorships and corporate partner
  • Proven ability to achieve / exceed fundraising targets
  • Tenacity in seeking results and a high level of representational and negotiation skills.
  • Proven experience and skills in developing and leading a high impact team
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial monitoring and reporting, and managing resources
  • Demonstrated ability in stakeholder management at all levels
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent influencing and relationship building skills
  • Strong time management and organisational skills with demonstrated capacity to successfully manage competing priorities
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office 365 products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with high net worth individuals and Auslan (Australian Sign Language) skills are desirable
