Role Details

The Assistant Clinical Lead Nurse is a role within Disability Services and is accountable to the Clinical Lead Nurse for:

  • Delivering quality nursing care to clients across the full scope of technical nursing within the DHS nursing model of care, under limited direction.
  • Ensuring best care outcomes are delivered consistently to clients through implementation of various approaches to care including coordination of care and nursing model of care.
  • Accepting accountability for own standards of nursing care and for activities delegated to others, including providing the direct or indirect supervision of Assistants in Nursing, Students in Enrolled Nursing, Enrolled Nurses, and Support Workers, and supporting the delivery of competency-based training and assessment of health support tasks.
  • Undertaking a specific activity and/or portfolio responsibility and act as a resource person within an area based on knowledge, experience, and skills.

  • Some out of hours work may be required.
  • Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).

Essential Qualifications:

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and holds or is eligible to hold a current practicing certificate.
  • Must have completed a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved program of study or the NMBA units of study for the administrations of medicines.
  • Work at this level requires 3 years post registration experience.
