Approved casual, temporary and permanent teachers with the NSW Department of Education can now be supported while they undertake additional studies in inclusive education.

The Inclusive Practice in Education Scholarship is designed to further equip teachers and school leaders with the skills, capability and confidence to support the diverse needs of students in classrooms today. This is an incredible professional development opportunity for school leaders and approved casual, temporary and permanent teachers working in NSW public schools.

The Inclusive Practice in Education Scholarship offers three study pathways:

  • Masters in inclusive/special education;
  • Masters with specialisation in the area of deaf and hard of hearing or blind and low vision; and
  • Graduate diploma in inclusive/special education.

Inclusive Practice in Education scholars receive:

  • Up to $23,000 towards their degree;
  • Up to eight days study leave per year (12 months) of full-time study;
  • For temporary and casual teachers, a permanent full-time teaching position upon successful completion of studies;
  • For existing permanent teachers (including school leaders), professional development whilst remaining within current position; and
  • The opportunity to connect with a network of Inclusive Practice in Education scholars and specialists.

Who can apply?

Casual, temporary and permanent teachers and school leaders with a minimum of one year (203 days) experience are eligible to apply. Those who are already approved to teach in the area of special education and intend on enrolling in and completing a specialisation in the area of deaf and hard of hearing or blind and low vision are also eligible to apply.
