Farsi and Somali Speaking Tech Mates (Voluntary)

Digital Literacy Foundation

We’re seeking people with a knack for technology who can speak Farsi or Somali to mentor migrants in the Auburn area. Share your tech and language skills with migrant families.

We’re giving 5 recent migrant families iPads with 12-month data plans, and need you to provide digital mentoring support to a group of people who are socially isolated and have literacy and language barriers.

You may be required to assist with:

  • Extending their tech knowledge
  • Improving their digital security
  • Connecting them with their local community online
  • Learning English
  • Finding appropriate work
  • Supporting their children’s education
  • Supporting their health and wellbeing online

Mentoring will take place in-person in Auburn, New South Wales.

We provide free training and ongoing support for our volunteers.

Volunteers are required to be 18+, complete a National Police Check and have a COVID Vaccination Certificate.

Time Required:

You and the family you help will pick your schedule. Some people prefer one hour a week, while some do an hour a fortnight. It's pretty flexible!
