Organisation Overview

The Digital Literacy Foundation (DLF) (formerly Leep NGO) is an Australian not-for-profit organisation. We advocate for, and directly serve, the most vulnerable and marginalised members of disadvantaged communities, whose lack of digital connection and skills compounds their social exclusion and economic disadvantages. Our mission is to create a socially and digitally inclusive society, where no one is left behind.

We currently offer two volunteering programs:

  • Digital Mentoring Volunteering

The Digital Literacy Foundation offers practical support to increase basic digital skills, and to enable people to use technology in their daily lives. Committed to addressing the issues of access, motivation, skills, and trust that challenge universal digital literacy, we have provided nearly 5,000 free one-on-one, face-to-face digital mentoring programs since 2015, delivered by trained volunteer ‘Tech Mates’ across Western Sydney and Far Western New South Wales.

Our volunteer Tech Mates work one-on-one to digitally mentor each Learner individually, so that people safely develop digital confidence and skills.

  • Volunteer Visiting

In 2023, the Digital Literacy Foundation became a provider of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS), working with around 140 community organisations nationally, on behalf of the Department of Health and Aged Care, to recruit and support volunteers to visit socially isolated older people.

Volunteer visits are available to recipients of government-subsidised residential aged care or Home Care Packages (including care recipients approved or on the National Priority System for residential or home care packages).Volunteer visiting is a free service that aims to provide friendship and companionship to socially isolated older people, thereby helping them to develop social connections.

Currently in the process of expanding our operations nationally, the Digital Literacy Foundation welcomes high achievers who share our passion for social justice and inclusion, who can engage with a variety of stakeholders (older and poorer Australians, people living with disability, from other cultures/refugees, potential partners and donors), and who are excited to take on new challenges with initiative and creativity.
