ABOUT THE ROLE

The role is to support John, who has a physical disability and uses an electric wheelchair, to maintain his health and other personal care tasks. John lives with his wife, dog & cat in Glen Huntly.

• Provide support to an individual who has a physical disability
• Location: Glen Huntly, VIC, 3163
• Shifts times 7 days a week (Flexibility required)
  • 8am-10am
  • 10am-5pm
  • 7pm-9pm

The role is to support John in his home to maintain his health such as pressure care management, Diabetes & a variety of other personal care tasks.

John uses an electric wheelchair, has over 60 years of living experience with a physical disability & is a professional empowerment advocate. For more information about John, visit here.

This involves home-based personal care, administration duties and assisting John with his employment as an empowerment advocate.

The employer is Disability Support Melbourne PTY LTD which is an entity created to manage John's team of support workers. Please note there is no website for this organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Getting John in and out of bed (slide transfers-lifting machines not used) & dressed

• Maintain personal hygiene e.g. showering & using the toilet

• Transporting John to appointments and social engagements (this may involve using public or his wheelchair accessible van)

Skills and Experiences

• In-Home based nursing support
• Wound and pressure care management
• Type 2 diabetes management
• First aid experience
• Be prepared for guided instruction and collaboration during tasks
