DisasterWISE is made up of a bold community-led learning network (DisasterWISE Communities Network) and supporting company (DisasterWISE Ltd), which has been co-designed to disrupt current paradigms for stronger, just and thriving futures for all. As a vital piece of social infrastructure, the DisasterWISE Vision is to grow and sustain a movement of people who are building disaster resilience through self-determination and community-led action.

With DisasterWISE Ltd established to support the growing learning network, we are seeking to appoint a diverse range of Board Members to provide advocacy, strategic support and stewardship on behalf of the members, investors and learning partners.

Together, the learning network and supporting company exemplifies the principles of connect, learn and change to:

  • Cultivate broad and diverse connections
  • Broker varying ways of knowing and learning across the membership (knowledge dissemination)
  • Amplify community voices as equal partners in recovery and resilience dialogue.
  • Support pathways to influence policy and practice change
  • Advocate, promote and support community-led initiatives

We’re currently recruiting board members to steward the principle-driven network to achieve the vision.

We’re looking for innovators, change-agents and collaborators to fill three board positions and grow a new non-profit organisation. This follows significant investment in research, development and prototyping to develop DisasterWISE, catalysed and incubated by the Fire to Flourish program. DisasterWISE is now set to become independent and reach the next stage of maturity - shaping its overall strategic direction and growth as a bold, national presence for community-led disaster resilience.

If you embrace different ways of working that include dynamic governance (sociocracy), trauma informed spaces, and decentralising and decolonising practices, then this is a volunteer role for you.
