This role is connected to The Commonwealth Government 500 Workers Initiative.

Join the Diverse Voices team to support victim-survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence. You would be joining our small and dedicated team, working with the Domestic Family Violence Program Manger and the Project Coordinator for Diverse Horizions Support program along with the Diverse Voices team & external partners.

What we are looking for

  • a) Experience in providing trauma-informed care and understanding the complexities of Domestic and family violence and sexual violence
  • b) Strong communication and advocacy skills
  • c) Understanding of the experiences of LGBTQIA+SB people and the unique risks they face
  • d) Demonstrated skills and ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with LGBTIQA+ identifying people and others of diverse backgrounds
  • e) A commitment to the health and human rights for LGBTIQA+SB people and communities and that you are a member of the LGBTIQ+ Sistergirl and Brotherboy community

Mandatory Requirements

  • a) Relevant qualification in social work, psychology, counselling or a related field
  • b) A current driver’s license
  • c) Comply with all law relating to the employment or engagement of Child Related Personal in relation to the Services, including all necessary Working with Children Checks however described. In addition to the initial check in clause 17.2 personnel will be reviewed to ensure they do not become a Disqualified Person

Key Responsibilities

The program you’ll be joining supports people who are experiencing violence from intimate partners and families.

As DFSV counsellor will primarily provide supports via phone, webchat and video.

  • Successfully engage key stakeholders to ensure safe, appropriate care coordination for service users, their families and communities• Delivering support via phone, webchat and video
  • Work alongside our team of LGBTIQASB+ workers engaged in Domestic and Family Violence prevention, contributing to a positive organisational culture and ongoing practice development of trauma-informed and intersectional feminist practice that is deeply engaged with LGBTIQASB+ communities and their experiences.
  • You must adhere to the principles guiding sensitive data collection & information sharing to meet funding reporting requirements.
