Project Coordinator for Diverse Horizons Supporting Recovery Role Summary

This role is connected to a Brisbane South PHN Supporting Recovery Care Service – Priority Population Groups grant, in recognition of the disproportionate burden of domestic & family violence, sexual violence & child sexual abused faced by LGBTIQASB+ people of all genders, reflected in the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children 2022-2032. We are beyond proud to be creating Diverse Horizions & this pivotal Role alongside the Domestic Family Violence Program Manager has been developed and will begin work asap.

The Project Coordinator will work within a small team whose objectives are improving and upskilling primary healthcare provider’s responses to DFSV & CSA for LGBTIQASB+ communities in the Brisbane South catchment with an affirming queer lens.

What we are looking for

  • a) A lived experience within the LGBTQIASB + community
  • b) A passion for the safety of LGBTQIA+SB victim-survivors & compassion for the needs of at-risk LGBTQIA+SB community members
  • c) Knowledge and understanding of drivers and frameworks of DFSV & CSA, and how these present within diverse LGBTIQASB+ communities, relationships and experiences
  • d) The ability to manage multiple priorities whilst enthusiastically taking ownership of this role, driving improvement and change to support the delivery of the Diverse Horizons Program
  • e) An understanding of experiences of violence, barriers to help-seeking and disclosure, barriers to accessing equitable support and recovery victim-survivor services within current service systems
  • f) Relevant qualifications in psychology, education, social work and or related experience also including experience (or a keen interest) in delivering training
  • g) Experience/knowledge of consultation and co-design processes, both groups and individual work

Mandatory Requirements

  • a) Obtain a police check from the Australian Federal Police
  • b) Conduct a reference check
  • c) Hold a Driver’s License
  • d) Comply with all law relating to the employment or engagement of Child Related Personal in relation to the Services, including all necessary Working with Children Checks however described. In addition to the initial check in clause 17.2 personnel will be reviewed to ensure they do not become a Disqualified Person.
  • e) Knowledge of not-for-profit organisations (desirable)

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

In this role you will coordinate the development of meaningful, targeted and relevant resources in consultation with local LGBTQIASB+ stakeholder groups. Bringing your experience and knowledge of responding to disclosures of gendered violence you will apply relevant risk-assessment and management processes to ensure people are connected to safe and meaningful supports.

Note that the duties and responsibilities for Diverse Horizons Program are managed and overseen by both the DFV Program Manager and this role. Working alongside each other you will oversee staff and contractors.

Program Priorities:

  • Ensure contractual obligations such as data collection, evaluation, reporting and report writing are met in alignment with the funding agreement
  • Distribute relevant material, resources and capacity building opportunities to primary healthcare service providers in the Brisbane South PHN catchment to ensure their services offer safe, affirming and skilled responses to DFV, SV & CSA for LGBTIQASB+ communities
  • Coordinate all projects and practises to achieve program outcomes in line with timely submissions of relevant key milestones & compliance requirements

Program Coordination & Development

  • I. Work alongside a small team of LGBTIQASB+ workers engaged in Domestic and Family Violence prevention, contributing to a positive organisational culture and ongoing practice development of trauma-informed and intersectional feminist practice that is deeply engaged with LGBTIQASB+ communities and their experiences.
  • II. Establish and maintain external agency networks and relationships with key stakeholders, including General Practitioners (GPs) and other health service providers, Queer organisations, and DFV/FDSV providers
  • III. You will draw from the current and contemporary evidence base to engage trauma-informed co-design approaches with LGBTIQASB+ community members, LGBTIQASB+ workers and LGBTIQASB+ people with lived experience of DFV, SV or CSA as victims and survivors to develop and deliver resources and capacity building activities for community members, GPs and other health service providers
  • IV. Demonstrate consideration for wider organisational objectives when making decisions and going about your work. You must model professional and ethical behaviour and are consistent in word and action

Information management, Training & Reporting

  • i. Lead the coordination, development and implementation of Diverse Horizons using your skills to develop, deliver and evaluate education/training and resources
  • ii. There are obligations to prepare and provide reports internally to the C.O.O and or Management Committee. Additionally, upon request this role will be writing and delivering high-quality reports for funding agencies and governing bodies
  • iii. You must adhere to the principles guiding sensitive data collection & information sharing to meet funding reporting requirements.
