About the Role

This position is part of the Intake team, which includes the team leader, advocate guardians and another guardianship support officer. It is part of the advocate guardian program.

The Guardianship Support Officer (GSO) assists in the general running of the intake team through the triaging of new orders, responding to enquiries about new orders and undertaking secondary referrals for information or to progress applications.

Some of your duties may include:

  • Assists in the general running of the team through triaging of new orders
  • Responding to enquiries about new orders and undertaking secondary referrals for information or to progress applications
  • Assists in the general running of an Advocate Guardian team through making contact with the applicant, represented person, family, friends, carers and support services in preparation for the allocation of an order to a guardian
  • Responding to enquiries, undertaking secondary referrals, writing reports to VCAT and managing orders once the main decisions have been made.

About You

  • Knowledge of the Victorian human services sector, particularly the NDIS, mental health and aged care service systems
  • Understands the issues relating to disability, including mental illness and age-related disability
  • Accept changed priorities without undue discomfort. Responds quickly to changes. Comfortable working in collaboration with teams outside of own organisation
  • Build a supportive and cooperative team environment; Engages other teams to share information in order to understand or respond to issues; Support others in challenging situations.
