Dohertys Creek P-9 College & Garrang Wilam Primary School in Truganina are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our allied health teams in 2023. This newly created position provides an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Occupational Therapist who is looking to enhance their career working with school age children in a supportive and collaborative school environment.
In this role you will work with the Disability Inclusion Leader in collaboration with the Principal team, teachers and parents to design, develop and implement Occupational therapy services for students in classrooms, individual and group settings across both schools. This is a full time position split across the two schools. (4 days at Dohertys Creek, 1 day at Garrang Wilam).
You will be responsible for the administration and implementation of the Occupational Therapy program, supporting and empowering teaching staff to plan and implement successful individual learning programs for students with the aim of maximising the student's capacity to independently participate in a variety of activities across the school day.
SC1 Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy, current AHPRA registration and current Working with Children Check.
SC2 An understanding of a variety of Occupational Therapy interventions and a capacity to implement these with children aged 5-15 years old with a wide range of disabilities (including but not limited to ID, ASD).
SC3 Demonstrated capacity to work within a collaborative professional team and contribute to the achievements of the team, as well as working independently.
SC4 Demonstrated ability to use initiative, reflective practice and prioritisation to plan and manage caseload.
SC5 Excellent interpersonal skills along with written and verbal communication skills.
SC6 An ability to build rapport and therapeutic relationships with students of varying disabilities, cultural backgrounds and experiences.
