  • Salary range (AH3): $85,279 - $96,759 per annum plus super

Relocation assistance can be provided to eligible candidates who meet the job criteria and are selected to work at Forensic Intervention Services. Support with Australian professional registration is also available.

We are currently seeking clinicians in the following locations to join Forensic Intervention Services, a specialist program area of Corrections Victoria dedicated to making our community safer by reducing re-offending.

  • Melbourne CBD
  • Lara and Greater Geelong region (based at Barwon Prison and/or Marngoneet and Karreenga Correctional Centres)
  • Ararat region (based at Hopkins Correctional Centre and/or Langi Kal Kal Prison)
  • Loddon Mallee region (based at Loddon and Middleton Prison)

A day in the life of our clinicians

You will be joining a supportive team committed to rehabilitating offenders. This job offers a great variety of work, and below is just a sample of some of the tasks you may undertake on any given day.

  • Apply behavioural therapy methods to offenders, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
  • Screen offenders for risk using evidence-based tools and systems.
  • Deliver programs directly to offenders.
  • Address criminal behaviour and encourage positive change.
  • Facilitate therapeutic intervention services.
  • Determine treatment pathways and prepare plans and reports.
  • Apply the key therapeutic frameworks outlined in your training to guide assessment and treatment recommendations.
  • Have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Be proficient in report writing.
  • Possess resilience, maturity and the ability to maintain professional boundaries.
  • Be able to multi-task with strong time management skills
  • Have a genuine passion and commitment to making a positive difference.

To apply, you'll need to hold (or be eligible for) at least one of the following qualifications:

  • General registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Be credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN)
  • Be registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
