Donna Zander is a mental health social worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Donna has extensive experience in trauma, child abuse and family violence and working therapeutically with children, women and families having worked in the field for over 30 years both as a professional and a volunteer (having been a foster carer and a local government politician). She is an accomplished practitioner-trainer advocate.

Donna is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, Australasian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the Australasian Pacific Play Therapy Association and the Australian Child & Adolescent Trauma, Loss and Grief Network.

Donna has presented on national and international media and at conferences in Canada, Israel, Fiji and Bougainville on young people's health, family violence, child abuse, homicide and play and couples therapy. Her reports documenting action research and innovative young people's advocacy and health projects in the 90's are still in use at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) today as is an organisation Western Young People's Independent Network Inc. that she was the catalyst for developing.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The purpose of these roles is to provide clinical service delivery to a caseload of people of all ages, provide assessment and care planning while supporting the person to achieve their mental health recovery goals.

This role is required to maintain a high standard of documentation which complies with accountability structures according to professional, legislative, service contractual obligations and organisational standards.

You will work predominantly at Donna Zander and Associates Private Practice in Eltham, Victoria under Donna's supervision with some planned outreach sessions when required.

Negotiable hours offered, with attractive Renumeration for ongoing Sub-Contractor role.

Your duties include:

  • Undertaking comprehensive clinical assessment to develop and assist them to implement care plans based on their level of need, risk and service requirement.
  • Counselling and therapy assistance.
  • Collaboratively working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to meet service goals and expectations in a holistic manner.
  • Building capacity and helping people better understand their care plans.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date clinical records for the people that we work with
  • Develop in collaboration with the care team individual care plans with people, addressing their needs and goals.
  • Providing support work, assisting with engagement in the community, life skills development, "recovery" planing, review and coaching.
  • Compilation of relevant Court and V.O.C.A.T. reports, annual N.D.I.S. reports, doctors’ assessment and treatment planning letters.
  • Referral and linkage to relevant support services.
  • Assist with the organisation, planning and delivery of our Therapy Retreats to Fiji.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Proven capability to implement therapeutic, "recovery'" oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, clinical teams and key stakeholders.
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • Complete a National Criminal Records check.
  • Hold a valid Victorian driver's license (preferred).
  • All candidates require Australian working rights.
