A little about the role

The Health Promotion Officer (HPO) is part of the Health Promotion Team and reports to the Health Promotion Team Leader.

 A key focus of the position will be to work in partnership with internal and external networks to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives, as set out in the DPV Health Community Health - Health Promotion Plan, within the Northern Corridor of Melbourne (including the Hume and Whittlesea catchment).  

Using place-based planning processes and efficient resource management, you will given flexibility and license to explore new methodologies, techniques and technologies to find and build sustainable programs that deliver high impact and community reach. 

On building relationships and working groups, you will implement and manage regular communication and behaviour changing programs that continuously expand the available networks and maintain ongoing contact with clients and the community.

The HPO will be a driver and communicator of DPV Health Programs and Services through the establishment of internal and external networks and client referrals. 

The role is initially fixed-term until 30 June 2023, however there is likelihood for extension. We’re open to what this role may look like for you whether that’s part-time (0.6eft / 0.8eft) or full-time. Our team currently work a mixture of hybrid arrangements between WFH and Epping Support Officer. 

December or January commencement.

Your day-to-day responsibilities would include:

  • Building and executing effective and sustainable programs that influence community behaviour and attitudes
  • Ensuring projects are delivered according to the IHP plan priorities and timelines
  • Engaging, constructing and leveraging relationships with industry and community partners to establish shared planning processes and efficient resource management.
  • Integrating DPV Health medical services and support programs with health promotion projects in order to provide education and access to the community

About you

  • You will have good experience and skills at developing, establishing and sustaining interpersonal relationships.
  • You will be open minded with an interest in innovation and challenging the status quo.
  • You will have a passion and persistence to change community behaviours, opinions and attitudes. 
  • You will ideally have experience within the healthcare industry and an understanding of the current principles and practice supporting community health services and funding.

You will also come with:

  • Ability to work within a rapidly changing environment and growing business.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively within a team.
  • Personal and hands-on approach to building and implementing projects.
