The Role

Help set up and deliver a new program, being established across the Northern Territory, South Australia and Victoria to develop a better understanding of people’s needs for domestic and family violence support services, with the goal of improving the service sector and broader system’s capacity to meet those needs and, ultimately, increasing people’s safety. 

We’re looking for two people to provide important local connections in the Northern Territory and South Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a role around your skills and experience, with room to develop and grow over the next few years.  

The Program Officers will support all aspects of program delivery, including a combination of research assistance, administrative and logistics support, communications coordination and stakeholder engagement. Individual responsibilities and projects will be allocated across the team, so you’ll have key things you’re accountable for – which will be decided based on your background and interest as well as broader program requirements. As part of a small team spread across multiple jurisdictions, you’ll need to take an autonomous and proactive approach to agreed activities and tasks.  

We’re looking for people with a mix of complimentary skills and experience to help round out a small team. You might not meet every criteria in the position description, but to be successful you’ll definitely have: 

  • At least two years’ relevant professional experience, such as in project or program coordination, community engagement, research assistance, or communications
  • Impressive organisational and time management skills
  • A knack for getting things done – translating goals into action, with limited supervision
  • Excellent relational skills; as a clear, empathetic communicator you’re great at building trust and someone people love to collaborate with

The DFV measurement program is a partnership between the DFV sectors across three jurisdictions, with a program delivery team employed by Safe and Equal.

Safe and Equal is the peak body for Victorian organisations that specialise in family and gender-based violence across the continuum, including primary prevention, early intervention, response and recovery.
