About the role

We are seeking a Director - Technical and Infrastructure Services, to be based in Nhulunbuy.

The Director - Technical and Infrastructure Services is tasked with leading the strategic and operational aspects of Building Infrastructure, Transport Infrastructure, Fleet Services, Public Lighting and Infrastructure and Tenancy Services. This role involves providing expert advice to the CEO and Executive on matters concerning these areas, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and actively participating in the Executive Leadership Team. The objective encompasses not only managing the various technical and infrastructure services, but also engaging effectively with remote communities, aligning services with the Council's strategic direction, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement and innovation within the Technical and Infrastructure Services Directorate.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in technical and infrastructure services, at a senior management level.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage technical services, with a focus on strategic planning, operational management, and community engagement.
  • Strong knowledge in technical and infrastructure services.
  • Experience in effectively engaging with communities; understanding their needs and aligning services to meet these needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards and contribute to policy development.
  • Skills in making informed decisions and recommendations based on financial and operational reporting.
  • Commitment to ethical behaviour, sustainability, social inclusion, equity, and diversity within the workplace.
  • Proven capability to oversee and develop a multi-disciplinary team to achieve high-quality service delivery.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • A current C Class Drivers Licence, with the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.

The following would also be viewed favourably:

  • Previous experience living and/or working in a remote First Nations community within Australia.
  • Demonstrated high level of cross-cultural awareness to ensure effective participation in a cross-cultural workplace.
  • Awareness of issues affecting First Nations People in Australia.

All employment with EARC is subject to the successful completion of a Criminal History Check and ability to obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the position.

What you'll get in return

Full-Time Permanent Employment.

Level 13 – Salary $168,687 - $178,960 (excluding super and locality allowance).

You will also benefit from 6 weeks Annual Leave, with 17.5% Leave Loading.
