About Environment Centre NT

The Environment Centre NT is the peak environmental organisation in the Northern Territory (NT). We have been working to protect the NT environment since 1983.

ECNT is an exciting and dynamic organisation, with an extraordinary impact locally and nationally. We have undergone a period of growth in recent years, and we are now leading some of the most important campaigns in the country.

We are the trusted, independent, voice on environmental issues in the NT and we fearlessly hold governments and industry to account in pursuit of our vision. We have expanded rapidly in the last few years in response to escalating environmental threats (including the climate and extinction crises). We are currently running a number of cutting-edge campaigns across our key strategic work themes: mining, climate, freshwater and biodiversity that require a sophisticated and multi-layered communications strategy. For more information, please visit our website: www.ecnt.org.au.

ECNT acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the unceded lands and waters upon which we work and their role in caring for country for millennia, now, and into the future.

Nature Campaign

The Northern Territory is currently facing unprecedented pressures on the Territory’s iconic nature and rivers landclearing, water extraction and biodiversity loss.

ECNT works with local communities, organisations and individuals to lead the development and implementation of a campaign designed to protect land, rivers & biodiversity in the NT.

The Environment Centre NT is recruiting for a role designed especially to campaign to protect the vast intact savanna ecosystem and spectacular free-flowing rivers that define the Northern Territory. The Northern Territory’s nature is exceptional on a national and global scale, but is facing unprecedented threats from fracking, the expansion of the cotton industry and the climate and biodiversity crises.

The senior campaigner will lead ECNT’s nature team, and utilise and develop their policy know-how and place-based organising skills to stop threats to the Northern Territory’s nature, and advocate for better policy outcomes that protect our precious nature and respect the knowledge traditions and governance systems of Traditional Owners.
