Eating Disorders Families Australia (EDFA) is the only national organisation solely for families and carers of those living with eating disorders. A not-for-profit organisation, EDFA provides support to families and carers who are grappling every day with the challenges of supporting someone with an eating disorder.
Our fully remote team is located around Australia. This part-time role can be undertaken from anywhere in Australia.
The Fill The Gap (FTG) program was established in October 2023, after receiving Federal Government funding. The program is a free, online counselling service for those caring for a loved one with an eating disorder and aims to deliver education, support, and skills to help carers to be an effective part of their loved one’s recovery team.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
- Provide evidence-based supportive counselling, education, support, and information to carers supporting a loved one with an eating disorder.
- As part of a small program service team, participate in program development, review and support
- Participate in ongoing training and supervision to ensure a high-quality service.
- Ensure professional and ethical management of carer details and confidentiality.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate psychology / social work / counselling or aligned medical / social work field
- Professional registration with the Psychotherapy and Counsellors Association of Australia (PACFA) or the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) or Australian Association of Social Workers (AWS) or Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Lived experience as a carer of someone with an eating disorder is preferred, but not essential
- Professional Indemnity insurance
- Sound knowledge of mental health assessment, risk assessment and safety planning, counselling theory and practice
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in counselling (focused on psychological strategies)
- Experience in Eating Disorder theory, research and practice support (or aligned mental disorder support)
- High level of communication – both written and verbal
- Working With Children Check
- Police Check
- ANZAED Credentialed practitioner or willingness to obtain ANZAED accreditation
