Eating Disorders Families Australia (EDFA) is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting families and carers of individuals experiencing eating disorders. Through advocacy, education, and support, we empower families to navigate the challenges of caring for a loved one with an eating disorder.
The Fill The Gap (FTG) program was established in October 2023 and is fully funded by the Federal Government. The program is a free, online counselling service for those caring for a loved one with an eating disorder and aims to deliver education, support, and skills to help carers be an effective part of their loved one’s recovery team. The program is being evaluated to determine its efficacy. The Evaluation Support Officer will provide essential assistance to EDFA’s Research and Evaluation Assistant. This role involves a range of administrative and research-related tasks that support EDFA’s ongoing evaluation and research work.
As a national organisation, the majority of EDFA programs are delivered remotely. As such, this role can be undertaken from anywhere in Australia. Please note this role is funded for two months only.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Provide Research & Evaluation Support
- Assist with emailing and distribution of online surveys to stakeholders
- Support collection and collation of survey responses
- Perform basic data cleaning and preliminary analysis using Qualtrics exports
- Review the published literature to Identify current knowledge and gaps
- Help prepare summaries, reports, or presentations based on survey data
- Support documentation and record-keeping related to EDFA’s national Carer Experience Survey and other ongoing projects
Provide Administrative Support
- Provide general administrative assistance to the Research and Evaluation Assistant as required
- Assist with scheduling meetings, tracking progress, and managing files
- Format and prepare project-related documentation (e.g., information sheets, consent forms, summaries)
Ensure Quality and Safety
- Ensure all services and interactions adhere to best practice guidelines, professional standards, and EDFA’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality support to families.
- Identify and report any risks or incidents that may impact the safety, wellbeing, or quality of services delivered to EDFA members.
- Work within EDFA's Code of Conduct, policies and procedures.
- Ensure Commonwealth Child Safe Standards are adhered to by self and team.
- Comply with Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) requirements for remote work and organisational operations.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
Essential:
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Familiarity with data entry and working with spreadsheets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and as part of a virtual team
- Working With Children Check
- Police Check
Desirable:
- Familiarity with EDFA’s mission or experience as a carer or family member of someone with an eating disorder (lived experience welcomed but not required)
- Experience using survey tools such as Qualtrics
- Interest or experience in evaluation, public health, mental health, psychology, eating disorders, consumer and/or carer data, and/or research
- Previous exposure to not-for-profit or community-based work
