About the Role

As a Sanctuary Hand, you’ll play a vital role in delivering the daily care that supports the health, happiness, and dignity of our rescued animals. This hands-on role involves:

• Providing compassionate care and enrichment to a variety of species
• Ensuring safe, clean, and nurturing living environments
• Supporting rehabilitation, feeding, health monitoring and treatments
• Maintaining equipment and assisting with transport
• Promoting safety and wellbeing for animals, staff, and visitors

About You

This role requires physical fitness, emotional resilience, a flexible mindset and—above all—a deep commitment to animal welfare. Some of the qualities we’re looking for include:

• Compassionate, reliable, and emotionally resilient
• Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor, manual work
• Observant and detail-oriented when it comes to animal health
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and across a 7-day roster (weekend availability required)
• Able to follow instructions, take initiative, and work autonomously
• A team player who communicates with kindness and clarity
• Personally aligned with our mission of promoting kindness and justice for all beings

Bonus if you have experience working with animals (ideally farmed animals) and/or in a sanctuary, shelter, or with farm infrastructure.
