About the Role
EDQ has two newly funded positions for two psychosocial workers based in Cairns!
The Eating Disorder Psychosocial Worker delivers recovery-focused, evidence-based support to individuals with eating disorders. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, this role emphasises intentional psychosocial support to empower clients, their families, and carers.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide recovery-oriented psychosocial support to clients, integrating a feminist practice framework and evidence-based approaches for eating disorders and co-occurring conditions.
- Values that align with EDQ’s non-diet culture and body neutrality approach.
- Develop and deliver psychosocial group programs, including skill-building workshops and body image interventions.
- Facilitate an Intermediate Meal Support Program to address barriers to social eating and promote confidence in various settings.
- Conduct client assessments and manage risk to support group participation.
- Actively contribute to team functions, supervision, professional development, and ethical practices.
- Collect data via the client management system.
- Collaborate with the team to foster a culture of shared decision-making and continuous improvement.

Reporting Relationships
This position reports to the clinical lead in Brisbane and operations manager in Cairns, who will collaborate closely with the two teams.
Key Selection Criteria- Respond to Criteria in the application
- Early career graduates with Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling qualifications.
- Awareness of eating disorder presentations and their impact.
- Willingness to undertake additional training in eating disorder support.
- Stable recovery for at least two years (if applicable).
- Have an understanding of food in recovery and a non-diet approach as per the RAVES model
- Demonstrated ability to articulate and apply a personal practice framework.
- Experience in delivering psychosocial groups within mental health contexts.
- Familiarity with evidence-based interventions (e.g., ACT) is advantageous.
- Competence in client management systems (e.g., Csnet).
- Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and client engagement abilities.

- Valid and current driver’s license
- Queensland Working with Children Check
- Queensland Yellow Card (criminal history screening)
- Relevant professional registration (e.g., AASW, PACFA, AHPRA) if applicable
