Initial project contract

Overview: we're seeking an experienced digital communications specialist to help drive our upcoming EOFY fundraising campaign (mid-May to mid-June), while assisting with other marketing and communications tasks.

  • Contract: 2-3 month project contract, ideally commencing May 12
  • Hours & remuneration: ~2 days per week, $50-65 p/h
  • Reporting to: Development Director
  • Location: anywhere (minimum 5hrs overlap with AEDT p/w)

Key Responsibilities

  1. Producing and repurposing engaging fundraising campaign content
  2. Building, testing and deploying EDM campaigns via Mailchimp
  3. Managing subscriber list segmentation
  4. Analysing campaign performance and reporting impact metrics
  5. (Desirable:) designing small visuals for EDMs and posting on socials

Ongoing Role

Following successful completion of the initial project, there is potential to explore ongoing employment (‘Digital Communications and Marketing Manager’ or similar role) at 2-4 days per week, $90,000-$100,000 incl super (pro rata to 2-4 days), and access to NFP salary packaging benefits up to $18,550 per year.

In addition to the digital campaign responsibilities listed above, this role would include: Content Creation & Management; Digital Marketing; CRM Management; Event Management & Media Support; and Evaluation & Growth.

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • 3+ years of experience in digital communications and/or marketing
  • Strong technical skills with MailChimp or similar EDM platforms
  • Strong command of English and ability to write simply and succinctly, tailoring messaging to different audiences
  • Self-motivated, with proven ability to work efficiently and independently

Strong desire (especially for continued employment):

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of fundraising principles and donor communications
  • Experience with CRM systems, audience segmentation, and EDM campaigns
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Adaptable, with a track record of creative problem-solving
  • Good analytical skills and comfort interpreting and communicating data
  • Events, media relations and/or PR experience

Desire for at least one of the following:

  • Knowledge of effective altruism and/or global health and development
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and content marketing
  • Knowledge of data analytics, data visualisation, and/or impact measurement
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g. Canva) and a strong eye for design
  • Basic HTML or web editing
