About the job

The Engagement Officer is responsible for engaging and building relationships with organisations providing mental health, drug and alcohol and other support services in the CESPHN region, with the view to maintain the CESPHN Mental Health Services Directory. This would involve engaging with service organisations to build awareness of the directory, demonstrate its value and discuss potential referral pathways for clients who may access the Head to Health Phone Line.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, local service providers, partners, and community services to:
    • Maintain effective working relationships
    • Build awareness of the Mental Health Services Directory (MHSD)
    • Demonstrate the value of the MHSD
    • Understand programs available and their capacity to receive referrals, including wait time for services
    • Explore referral pathways
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Mental Health Services Directory (MHSD) including its purpose, functions, how to use it, and back-end data entry.
  • Identify services that may not be included in the Directory and facilitate their addition, and conduct regular checks of the MHSD to ensure accuracy and make edits as required.
  • Attend community services/interagencies and forums to gain a better understanding of local services and programs to support referral pathways, build awareness of and demonstrate the function of the Mental Health Service Directory.
  • Actively promote the MHSD to local stakeholders including demonstration of the functions and benefits of features to service providers.

Selection criteria – essential

  • High level of engagement and community development skills and demonstrated relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in relationship building and management among stakeholders from diverse cultures, professions, ages and needs.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills to be able to engage stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to analyse key issues.
  • Ability to balance competing projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.
  • High level of initiative and ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask accordingly.
  • Excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage quickly and seamlessly with stakeholders.
  • High level computer literacy across MS Office suite and other CRM based programs.

Selection criteria - desirable

  • Current knowledge of health facilities, community programs and services relating to the mental health, drug and alcohol services and other health and wellbeing support services.
  • Current knowledge of relevant community interagency groups.
  • Access to a motor vehicle and possession of a current NSW drivers' licence.
